Sofia Winiarski is a conductor based in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2022 Opus, Sweden's leading magazine for classical music, listed Sofia as one of Sweden's most interesting music profiles -- and a rising star to watch. In the summer of 2023, she was profiled on the cover of the same magazine.
As a recent graduate of The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, she has already taken steps into the professional world thanks to invitiations and reinvitations from orchestras all around Sweden. The season of 2022/2023 included reinvitations from the Helsingborg’s Symphony Orchestra, Folkoperan, The Swedish Chamber Orchestra, The Symphony Orchestra of Norrköping and the Royal Swedish Army Band, as well as debuts with Gävle Symphony Orchestra (Swedish Philharmonia) and the Nordic Wind Ensemble.
In May 2022, Sofia made her professional opera debut at Norrlandsoperan, conducting four performances of Kirke Mechem's opera Tartuffe. Sofia has worked as assistant conductor at Den Jyske opera in Denmark as well as at Malmö opera, and in the fall of 2022 she conducted twelve performances of Bellinis Norma at Folkoperan in Stockholm. Sofia will return to Folkoperan in 2024. Her debuts during the season 2023/2024 include The Gothenburg Opera, Dalasinfoniettan, The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and The Nordic Chamber Orchestra.
